1. The GOP Repeal and Replace Plan: An ACA Update
On Monday evening, March 6, House Republicans introduced legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This proposed legislation, 120 pages in length, is titled the “American Health Care Act” with age-based tax credits at its centerpiece. The legislation would also expand health savings accounts while eliminating the individual and employer mandates currently required within the ACA.

2. Healthcare Cost-Saving Opportunities
With healthcare costs continuing to rise, employers are exploring all possible alternatives to lower costs while maintaining employee satisfaction. The landscape brought about by the ACA and the uncertainty in its replacement, alongside shifting market conditions, has created a need for expansion into alternative funding approaches.

Approaches such as Self-Funding, Minimum Premium, Level-Funding and Captives will be some of the topics highlighted as avenues to savings, with consideration for implementation among groups of all sizes.
