Joe began his career in 1980 as a Field Accountant for Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation in Shippingport, Pennsylvania.

He joined Rose & Kiernan in 1986, was named Treasurer in 1991, Vice President in 1992, Senior Vice President/CFO in 1999 and to his current position of Executive Vice President/CFO in 2000.  Joe has served on Rose & Kiernan’s Board of Directors since 1993, was name Vice Chairman in 2003 and has sat on its Executive Committee since 1994.  He currently sits on the company’s Advertising\Contributions Committees and Chairs its Pension Audit Committee and Salary Review Committee.  He is the Administrative and Financial Advisor to Rose and Kiernan’s ESOP Trustees.  Additionally, Joe is one of five Directors of the Rose & Kiernan, Inc. Charitable Foundation.

Joe is the current Chair of the Board of Directors for the Capital District YMCA and previously served as the organization’s Treasurer.  Mr. Vitale is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Albany Medical Center Foundation, currently sits on their Corporate Committee. Additionally Joe is a member of the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement and for the Capital District Local Organizing Committee|Sports Foundation and is part of their Executive Committee as well.

He is a 1980 graduate of Bentley College and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.  He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Lakehill Soccer Club and has served on committees for the Capital District Youth Basketball League.  He has served has a Coach and Team Manager in the Clifton Park Soccer Club.  He has been a volunteer in numerous youth activities in the Glenville and Burnt Hills communities.

Joe resides in Scotia, New York with his wife Cindy.  They are members of the Greater Glenville YMCA and the Edison Club, both are avid golfers.  They have two grown children, Stephanie and Joe, both work and reside in Boston.
