(Some of these sites require a policy number to gain access to further resources. Take the time to visit the sites for the carriers that provide your coverage).

Costs and Losses Controlled in Social Service Environment.

A large social service agency struggled with Workers’ Compensation incidents involving aggressive consumer behaviors. Rose & Kiernan, Inc. worked with the organization’s team of the social service professionals and the insurance carrier to assess and analyze the impact of the Social Service agency's staff educational directives. A questionnaire was created to assess the fundamental principals taught during Psychological Management Training (PMT). This survey was completed by staff at all locations, anonymously. The results were then analyzed and "target questions" were identified to show the weakest areas of their training program. The PMT trainers, Occupational Therapists and Nurses then adopted new training procedures to address the weakest areas. Within one year, the frequency and cost of behavioral incidents was reduced by over 45%.

Property Review solves problem and lowers premium.

Health club owners saved 35% on property premiums and reaped further savings.

A new client of Rose & Kiernan’s, a multi-location health club, had property rates which had been erroneously published, resulting in excessive property rates. Rose & Kiernan’s risk management specialist determined this was due to apparent problems related to the facility sprinkler system. A review of the published rate report and visit by Rose & Kiernan’s risk management specialist revealed the inaccuracies and Rose & Kiernan ordered a new visit by the independent property rating organization. The client at Rose & Kiernan’s suggestion, provided additional documentation on the quality, effectiveness and condition of the sprinkler system at the time of the survey, and as a result the rate was reduced dramatically. The result: the health club owners saved 35% on property premium for that policy year and was viewed more favorably in the insurance marketplace reaping further savings.

Risk Transfer Advocacy gains access to Admitted Market.

A large subcontracting company located in New York State struggled with high premiums and having their insurance placed in non-admitted markets. The company subcontracted some of their work and had not developed an effective process for transferring risk through contract. The Risk Management department at Rose & Kiernan, Inc. provided the resources and solutions to help the business improve the insurance language in their contract and explain how to effectively manage the administrative procedures necessary to successfully transfer the risk. The result of the consultation was improved insurance pricing and enhanced access and placement with admitted markets, markets that would not have considered the risk prior to R&K providing the necessary guidance and direction for change.

Workers’ Compensation Experience Modification factor reduced, saving Social Service Agency $335,000 in premium.

A Social Service Agency’s Experience Modification Factor was above 1.50 and significantly impacting the agency’s cash flow and financial condition. The Risk Management team from Rose & Kiernan, Inc. helped direct the Agency’s senior management to focus on a process to control injuries and costs. The combination of supervisory training, post injury oversight, incentive programs and claims reviews lowered the Experience Modification Factor to below 1.00. The agency saved over $300,000 in premium while reducing lost workdays, decreasing injuries and better serving the individuals in their care.
