Farmers’ Market Season Has Kicked Off in New York State
Farmers’ markets offer fresh food at a reasonable price while also supporting a healthy lifestyle, the local economy and the environment. Recently, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the launch of peak farmers’ market season across New York state. There are over 700 locations that provide people with access to fresh, locally grown and produced food and beverages. Farmers markets are also vibrant community gathering places filled with events that promote a healthy lifestyle such as cooking demonstrations, fitness activities, gardening lessons and health screenings.
Last year, NewYorkUpstate.com ranked the 25 best farmers’ markets in Upstate New York spread across various counties. These markets range from farms and orchards with their own markets to seasonal and weekly town and city markets. Residents in New York state can use this map or this directory to find a farmers market near you. Across each region, there are a number of locations to check out.
For those located in the Adirondack region, Adirondack.net has a list of all 2019 farmers’ market locations with their addresses and hours of operation.
The Times Union has listed all farmers’ market locations in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady counties for those located in the Capital Region.
The website Pure Catskills has a list of all 2019 farmers’ market locations with their addresses, websites and hours of operation across Delaware, Greene, Schoharie, Sullivan, Otsego and Ulster counties.
Central New York Region
WODZ-FM, a central New York-based radio station recently posted a list of 33 farmers markets located in Central New York in Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, Chenango and Otsego counties along with the dates in which they are opened.
Hudson Valley Region
Hudson Valley One (HV1) a local media site, put together a list of farmers markets a description of each for Ulster, Dutchess, Columbia and Orange counties. LoHud has a list of farmers markets for the lower Hudson Valley including Rockland, Westchester and Putnam counties.
Finger Lakes Region
