    John began his insurance career in 1980 with Wausau Insurance Companies in Rochester, New York.

    John joined the brokerage firm of Marsh & McLennan, Inc. in 1987 and was elected Senior Vice President in 1990 and managing director in 1993. In addition to his responsibilities as an account executive and senior account advisor for several of upstate New York’s risk management clients, John supervised the risk management operations in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany, New York.

    In November of 1994, John joined Rose & Kiernan, Inc. as Executive Vice President and serves on Rose & Kiernan’s executive committee and board of directors. In September of 1998, John was elected President of Rose & Kiernan, and he was elected Chairman in 2003.

    John is a 1979 graduate of Siena College, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, and is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees for the college. He also serves on the board of the Business Council of New York State and is on the board of directors for Fenimore Asset Management, Inc. John is the former chairman and director of the board for The Pioneer Savings Bank, past president of the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany, a former trustee of Christian Brothers Academy, a former director of Patient Care for Northeast Health System and served as chair and a board member of the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce. In May, 2019, John was inducted into the 2019 Tech Valley Business Hall of Fame.  He also serves as an advisor to several not-for-profit corporations.

    His professional associations include serving as former chair of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers National Large Agent Advisory Panel and past IIABA InVest board of directors.

    John also established and serves as a director of the Rose & Kiernan Charitable Foundation to support community activities and charitable works throughout New York State.

    Joe began his career in 1980 as a Field Accountant for Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation in Shippingport, Pennsylvania.

    He joined Rose & Kiernan in 1986, was named Treasurer in 1991, Vice President in 1992, Senior Vice President/CFO in 1999 and to his current position of Executive Vice President/CFO in 2000. Joe has served on Rose & Kiernan’s Board of Directors since 1993, was named Vice Chairman in 2003 and has sat on its Executive Committee since 1994. He currently sits on the company’s Advertising\Contributions Committee and Chairs its Pension Audit Committee and Salary Review Committee. He is the Administrative and Financial Advisor to Rose & Kiernan’s ESOP Trustees. Additionally, Joe is one of the Directors of the Rose & Kiernan, Inc. Charitable Foundation.

    Joe is a past Chair of the Board of Directors for the Capital District YMCA, currently has returned to their Board, serves on their Executive Committee and is a past Chair of the Audit Committee. Mr. Vitale is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Albany Medical Center Foundation, Junior Achievement and for the Capital District Local Organizing Committee Sports Foundation.

    Joe is a 1980 graduate of Bentley College and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Lakehill Soccer Club and has served on committees for the Capital District Youth Basketball League. He served as a Coach and Team Manager in the Clifton Park Soccer Club.  Joe has been a volunteer in numerous youth activities in the Glenville and Burnt Hills communities.

    Joe resides in Scotia, New York with his wife Cindy. They are members of the Greater Glenville YMCA and the Edison Club, both are avid golfers. They have two grown children, Stephanie and Joe, and a grandson, Joseph.

    Charlie Daniels began his insurance career in 1984 with the Daniels Insurance Agency of New York, Inc., which merged its stock with Rose & Kiernan in 2004. The merger resulted in Rose & Kiernan ranking among the largest 50 privately held insurance brokers in the United States.

    He is a 1978 graduate of St. Lawrence University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Charlie enjoyed success in the industry, and in 1991, he earned his Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation. He’s also past Chairman of the board of the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers, which represents brokers who write 80 percent of the commercial insurance in the nation.

    Charlie is very active in his community. He serves as Board Chair of the Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency and the Dutchess County Local Development Corporation. He is also the Vice Chair of The Pawling Resource Center and is on the Boards of Astor Services for Children, Partners with Putnam ARC, and The Mizzentop Day School. He is past chair of Abilities First of NY, Inc, The Pawling Community Foundation, The Pawling Chamber of Commerce, The Pawling Community Foundation, The Quaker Hill Country Club, and The Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation.

    Charlie resides Pawling, New York, where he oversees Rose & Kiernan’s downstate New York and Connecticut operations.

    Mark Nickel began his career over 30 years ago with Aetna as an assistant bond manager in Surety Operations. In 1983, he joined Fred S. James as bond manager, eventually moving to Marsh, Inc. in 1987, where he ultimately rose to the level of senior vice president, leading Surety and Middle Market for upstate New York.

    Mark came to R&K in 1994 to launch its operations in Western New York. He then returned to Marsh in 2002 to serve as chairman of the Global Surety Practice before returning to Rose & Kiernan in 2008 to lead R&K’s Western New York operations as construction practice leader and a member of the Executive Committee.

    Mark graduated from Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Finance. He’s been active in community and professional organizations, serving as a past board member of the General Builders and Contractors of New York, Construction Financial Management Association.

    Mark is currently a member of AGC, NASBP, CFMA, and an active member of the Surety Committee of the AGC of America. Mark is the Chairman of the Board for the Society for the Protection and Care of Children and also serves on the Board of CTAAB, Community Technology Assessment Advisory Board.

    Bob joined Rose & Kiernan, Inc. in 1997 and has over 30 years of experience in the field of employee benefits. Prior to joining Rose & Kiernan, Inc. Bob worked for a large national insurance agency, attaining the title of vice president of sales and marketing. He is currently responsible for the overall operations and leadership of the Employee Benefits Management Group within Rose & Kiernan, Inc.

    As a 1977 graduate of Hotchkiss Prep and a 1981 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Bob also holds the professional designations of CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter), CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist), RHU (Registered Health Underwriter) and REBC (Registered Employee Benefit Consultant).

    Bob is a past President of the Albany Chapter of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS), served on the Foundation Boards of the Albany Medical Center and St. Clare’s Hospital, as well as The Council of Employee Benefit Executives (CEBE-CIAB).

    Sean Hickey has nearly thirty (30) years of experience in commercial property & casualty insurance, management & professional liability insurance, and employee benefits.  Prior to joining Rose & Kiernan in 2001, Sean served in executive underwriting and senior leadership roles within the commercial insurance and national risk management practice groups of several of the nation’s largest insurers. He is a licensed insurance broker and consultant.

    He leads Rose & Kiernan’s Property & Casualty Practice which includes the firm’s commercial lines group, its commercial brokering, claims and risk management service groups, and its personal lines practice.  Sean also holds corporate responsibility for insurance carrier relations, and serves as a director on Rose & Kiernan’s board.

    Sean has extensive experience in the areas of global insurance program design, mergers & acquisitions, executive protection, cyber liability, supply chain risk, environmentally impaired property divestitures, contingent risk financing, actuarial analysis & assessment, risk & safety management, risk securitization, and captive, risk retention & national safety group formation.

    He provides significant risk consulting to corporate executives, private equity, and developers, and has authored numerous expert reports.

    Sean received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science as a Lee Scholar at the Williams School of Commerce, Economics and Politics at Washington & Lee University, and holds a number of advanced industry professional designations.

    He is a member of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society (CPCU Society), the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM), the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB) and is a past Director of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York (IIABNY).

    Kevin began his insurance career in 1980 as a surety underwriter for The Peerless Insurance Company. In 1985 he joined the S. H. Gow and Company Insurance Agency as Bond Manager for their Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany, New York offices.

    Kevin joined Rose & Kiernan’s Construction and Bond Department in 1989. In 1996 he was appointed Vice President and was elected to the Board of Directors. In 2000 Kevin was appointed Senior Vice President and assumed the Corporate Secretary duties in 2002. He also sits on the company’s Salary Review and Pension Audit Committees.

    Kevin is a 1979 Graduate of the State University of New York College at Cortland with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. He also attended the School of Irish Studies in Dublin Ireland. Kevin is a former elected member of the Board of Trustees for the Village of Voorheesville, a member of the Village Planning Board and the Village Water Board.

    He served on the Board of Directors of the General Building Contractors of New York State (GBC), now the AGC of New York State, and the Eastern Contractor’s Association (ECA) and is a past President of the Northeast Subcontractors Association (NESCA). He is a past National Director of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP) and past Chairman of the Government Relations Committee for the NASBP.

    Karen began her insurance career in 1994 with Johnson & Higgin’s National Casualty Practice in New York City. In 1995, Karen relocated to Rochester, New York where she was an Assistant Vice President responsible for customer service at Johnson & Higgins/Marsh, Inc. There she specialized in higher education and medical product manufacturing risks.

    In March of 2000, Karen joined Rose & Kiernan and is a Senior Vice President in the property and casualty client management department.

    Karen became a licensed New York State broker in 1992. Karen received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Risk & Insurance from The College of Insurance in 1995. She completed her Master degree from Rochester Institute of Technology with majors in International Business and Management in 1999 and her CPCU designation in 2003.

    Karen serves as a Board member at the State level for the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of New York, as President of the Capital Region Insurance Community and as an Albany I-Day committee member. She has also served as a Board member for the Southern Saratoga YMCA.

    Maureen Tompkins brings nearly twenty five (25) years of experience in personal insurance. Her extensive knowledge and understanding of the insurance industry help facilitate her ability to manage the department’s staff work with a wide range of clients, and find innovative strategies to address our client’s personal insurance concerns.

    Maureen joined Rose & Kiernan in 2004 as a Personal Lines Client Manager with a focus on high net worth clients and later a Team Leader. In 2012, Maureen was promoted to Vice President and assumed the responsibility of Personal Lines Practice Leader, which includes managing client services for the personal lines department for all locations.

    Maureen’s prior work experience included Spain Agency in Mahopac New York, where she was a Personal Lines Manager; Marsh Private Client Services, where she was an Assistant Vice President, and served in the role of Client Advisor Manager in their Naples, FL branch where she managed the insurance needs of high net worth clients with complex, coastal risk issues.

    Maureen serves on the advisory boards of several insurance carriers and currently sits on the Community Impact Council and is a Loaned Advisor for the United Way of Dutchess & Orange Counties.

    Mark Dailey has over 25 years of experience in property and casualty risk management programs. Prior to working in the insurance industry, Mark worked in both non-profit and academic environments specializing in employee health and safety training and professional safety management programming. Before joining Rose & Kiernan in 2000, Mark worked as the Risk Control Manager for Chubb Group in Albany, NY.

    Mark leads the Risk Management Department for Rose & Kiernan providing consulting in risk control and risk mitigation strategies to a broad spectrum of commercial customers. This includes extensive experience in workers’ compensation cost control, contractual risk transfer, and property loss exposures. Mark obtained the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation in 1993 and he earned the prestigious designation of Certified Risk Manager (CRM) in 2011.

    Mark has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vermont. He is past President of the Eastern NY Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. He works with Special Olympics NY as coordinator of their Young Athletes Program and is the Co-Founder and President of the Christopher Dailey Foundation, a non-profit youth needs organization based in Saratoga Springs, NY.

    Arnold Finaldi grew up in Danbury, CT. He graduated from Danbury High School in 1979 and from the University of Connecticut, School of Business in 1983.

    Arnold started his career in the insurance industry with The Hartford Insurance Company in 1983. He joined the Settle Insurance Agency in 1985 and served as its President from 1992 to 2004. Arnold is currently a Senior Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors of Rose & Kiernan.

    Arnold Finaldi was an elected official in the City of Danbury from 1987 to 1995, serving four terms on the Danbury Zoning Commission. He was appointed to the Danbury Planning Commission in 2004 and currently serves as Chairman.

    Arnold is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Union Savings Bank, and is also Chairman of the Finance and Investment Committee of the Union Savings Bank Foundation.

    Arnold resides in Danbury with his wife and three children.

    In July, 2012, John merged his agency with Rose & Kiernan, Inc. after an extensive review of the highest caliber agents in the Northeast. John serves as a Sr. Vice President out of the Rose & Kiernan, Inc. Wakefield, RI offices.

    John received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Babson College and holds a number of advanced industry professional designations.

    He is a member of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society (CPCU Society), past President of the RI Chapter and is a current Board member on the CPCU Scholarship Fund. John is a recipient of the Certified Insurance Counselors designation and is a current member of the Independent Insurance Agents of RI (IIARI) where he has held various committee leadership positions over the years. He serves on the Rhode Island Governor’s Insurance Council which is made up of industry leaders who work on current issues, legislative changes and industry concerns.

    John activities have included leadership and service to non-profit community boards that support the arts, human services and professional organizations. He has focused on children services including committees with South County Hospital, So. Co. YMCA, Children’s Friend & Services, The Groden Center and many other not-for-profit entities. He is a past President of the Wakefield Rotary Club where he attained 30 years of perfect attendance and was involved with numerous District 7950 committees.

    John resides in Wakefield, RI with his wife Carroll. Together they have six grown children and nine grandchildren (so far)! “Kids”, travel, golf and volunteering fill much of their time. John is on the Board of Directors of Point Judith Country Club and The Dunes club, both in Narragansett, RI.

    David is also very involved in our community, as board chair at Abilities First in Poughkeepsie, NY, and Trustee at Anderson Foundation for Autism in Staatsburg, NY. He also is a member of the Dutchess County Local Development Council’s Business Services Committee. David has past experience serving nine years as Trustee at Mount Saint Mary College and Board Chair for Anderson Center for Autism.

    Mr. Welch’s insurance career began more than 36 years ago and has developed into a practice that includes providing insurance and risk management solutions for local, national, and global clients. Listening and providing solutions to complex insurance challenges is the cornerstone of Bob’s practice. Mr. Welch also provides leadership for R&K’s Energy Group and is a Sales Team Leader.

    Bob is Senior Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors of Rose & Kiernan., Inc. He has also served on the Boards of several civic organizations and served as the Treasurer of a statewide emergency services association with over 10,000 members. Bob has a degree in Insurance and Banking and holds the Certified Insurance Counselor designation. Bob has been very active as a Fire District Commissioner, Volunteer Fire Chief and EMT. He has also coached youth basketball and baseball within in his community.
